Pucker Up with DIY Lip Scrub

Everyone loves a set of luxuriously luscious lips (try saying that 5 times fast)! Since November is National Healthy Skin Month, we've decided to ditch the preservatives and achieve our Hollywood pout the organic way, with an All-Natural DIY Lip Scrub. This lip scrub is quick and simple to make and only takes 3 ingredients: brown sugar, coconut oil, and honey.

  • Brown sugar = Exfoliator
  • Honey = Antiseptic, Natural Healing Properties
  • Coconut Oil = Moisturizer

- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon honey
- Container(s) with lid(s)
- Bowl & spoon (for mixing)

Step 1: Create Your Base

In your bowl, mix 1tbs of coconut oil with 1tbs of honey. Mix together until the consistency is smooth. Be sure to use your coconut oil when it is in a solid state (not liquefied, when it gets heated).

Step 2: Combine Your Base with Your Exfoliate

Add the brown sugar to the base depending on your desired consistency. If you prefer a smoother, silkier consistency, use less sugar. If you prefer a thicker consistency, use more sugar. In the event that you use more sugar than you had intended, add more coconut oil.

Step 3: Store Your Lip Scrub

Now that your lip scrub is complete, you'll need to store it properly! Try your best to note the date on your container, as these products can expire when combined. The average shelf life for your scrub is about two weeks--so be sure to refrigerate it to make it last longer! Once you're ready to use it, allow your sample to adjust to room temperature. Now pucker up, gorgeous and show us those lips!
